Personal Profile
One thing I findinteresting in the real estate industry isthat the many real estate professionals I have known have never actually owned an investment portfolio of their own. Those who did had never personally completed a simple rehab or even performed something as basic as installing a hot water heater. However, these individuals are advising on and managing large portfolios of other people’s properties or leading construction teams with no firsthand knowledge of what their teams are doing. It was at this point that I saw a deficiency. How can someone get involved in such a complex and dynamic field without true, all-encompassing experience in real estate?
As the owner of R.O.C. Realty, I pride myself on having not only the required licenses to operate in both Indiana and Illinois but also extensive experience in hands-on real estate development and management. I have had the privilege of coming from a family of union workers and used the knowledge to broaden my understanding of real estate. I have worked on hundreds of sites, large and small, and have done anything from plumbing, concrete work, hanging and taping and re-wiring to site clean-up. The on-site knowledge that I learned in my early on,working as a laborer and carpenter for 20 years, has given me the knowledge to readily lead any construction team or manage any site.
Below are just a few pictures of my most recent personal investment properties. I feel that it is necessary for any real estate professional to be able to succeed in the real estate field themselves before advising and leading others. These pictures are properties I have added to my personal portfolioover recent years. Some are single family while others are small brick or frame multi-units.
